The ideal storage conditions
Don’t let unfortunate placement affect the efficacy of your products. One of the most crucial factors in preserving your skincare products is the storage environment.
Always store your products in a cool, dark place and avoid temperature fluctuations. Of course you shouldn’t move your products to another room every time you feel like a hot shower, but we’d recommend storing them in a closed cabinet to prevent steam and heat from affecting it.
To keep products refreshing and cooling, many have even splurged themselves with a mini skincare fridge – and though you can benefit from storing soothing products, like our Intense Hyaluronic Mask, in the fridge, a bathroom cabinet or a dedicated skincare drawer are just as excellent choices for storage.
Avoid exposing your products to direct sunlight, as UV rays can cause your skincare products to deteriorate faster, rendering them less effective. Likewise, products containing oil should never be stored in areas too cold, as this can affect the texture, leaving the product thicker and, therefore, harder to work with.
Clean hands and tight sealing is the way to go
Proper sealing is essential to prevent air and bacteria from infiltrating your products, so make sure that caps, lids, and pumps are securely closed after each use. To prevent harmful bacteria from transferring from our fingertips to our formulas, all woods_ products come in tubes and bottles with pumps.
For the same purpose, we’d always recommend that you wash your hands before applying your products to avoid spreading bacteria and grime. Clean hands mean a cleaner skincare routine, helping you reach the results you wish for.
Avoid overstocking: Need to have versus nice to have
While it’s tempting to stock up on your favorite products, buying in excess amounts can lead to waste (of both product and your money). Therefore, you should always purchase what you can reasonably use within the product’s shelf life. This not only prevents waste but also ensures that your product remains potent. At woods_, we've visualized the product's lifespan on the packaging. Look for the moisturizing can with a number on it – the number indicates the product's durability in months.
