What's the most important thing for you when you choose your skincare? Is it the ingredients, the effect, or the texture? From organic active ingredients to natural additives.
woods_ copenhagen skincare is developed to meet all three demands, so you don't have to compromise. But skin types — and the reactions on the skin — are just as different as the ingredients are.
Mind your skin
Not all skin types work well together with the active ingredients in various skincare products. Non-active ingredients are substances (e.g. water) needed for all the ingredients in the product to remain one solid mass. Active ingredients are the substances (e.g. glycerine) that have a real effect on the skin and work on a deeper level, creating results outside as well as inside the skin.
Know the signs
If you change many products at once, your skin may not have time to get used to them. It can also be hard to tell what your skin is reacting to. That's why we recommend introducing one new product at a time.
Typical signs that your skin is reacting:
- Redness and irritation: Your skin feels warm, tight or tender.
- Itching or tingling: Often with small red bumps or a rash.
- Stinging or burning: A slight tingle for a few seconds can be normal when you use exfoliating acids. If it continues or becomes intense, your skin is irritated.
If you notice any of these signs, rinse the product off with lukewarm water and take a break from it. It may be a sign of irritation or an allergic reaction. If the reaction doesn't go away, or if you notice swelling, contact a doctor.
60% is absorbed in the body
Approximately 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed in the body as well. To protect the skin and keep it healthy, opt for simple, effective products that are as organic as possible and at the same time get the job done. As far as soaps and cleansers are concerned, go for mild, gentle ones with natural ingredients and a pH level that is less aggressive. Go for products without artificial preservatives and with a pH level that lets your skin maintain its natural balance.
Care for what you wear (on your skin)
All our products have undergone thorough testing. Our products contain highly active ingredients which affect the skin on a deeper level than alternative superficial components. This means that persons with sensitive skin or people suffering from pre-existing allergies may be more exposed to the active substances. If you notice that your skin reacts and the condition is persistent or develops other symptoms, we strongly advise you to see a dermatologist.
The bottom line: Listen to your skin. Know the ingredients that serve it well and those that make it react badly. It's important to introduce new products the right way — give your skin time to get used to it.
